South Suburban Parks and Recreation Campaign

South Suburban Park and Recreation District launched the “Play Your Way” campaign to showcase the variety of recreation opportunities available—from golf and swimming to art, dance, trails, and playgrounds. Wasteland Marketing designed a bold, flexible identity that included a logo, catalog ad, digital graphics, banners, stickers, and even a coloring sheet, anchored by a photo shoot featuring real community members. The result was a vibrant, approachable campaign that invited residents to explore, connect, and truly play their way.

Brief

South Suburban Park and Recreation District wanted to raise awareness of the incredible breadth of opportunities it offers its community—ranging from golf courses and swimming pools to art and dance classes, open space, trails, and playgrounds. The district’s team developed the tagline “Play Your Way” to highlight the idea that recreation is personal, flexible, and available to everyone in their own style.

They partnered with Wasteland Marketing to transform this message into a vibrant, community-centered awareness campaign that would engage residents across print, digital, and in-person touchpoints. The challenge was to create visuals that were inclusive, eye-catching, and adaptable for multiple platforms while staying true to South Suburban’s welcoming and active identity.

Solution

Wasteland Marketing brought the “Play Your Way” tagline to life through a bold and energetic design package that captured the variety of ways patrons can experience South Suburban. We organized a photo shoot to feature real community members using the trails—images that became the heart of the campaign and reinforced authenticity.

The campaign roll-out included:

  • A campaign logo and sticker designs for easy, shareable visibility

  • A catalog ad to anchor the launch within South Suburban’s seasonal guide

  • Digital graphics for the website and social media platforms

  • Outdoor light pole banners for high-traffic community spaces

  • A coloring sheet for kids, distributed at community events, to extend the campaign to families in a playful, interactive way

By designing a cohesive suite of creative assets, we built a campaign that was both flexible and memorable, meeting patrons where they are—on trails, in facilities, and online. The result was a colorful, approachable identity that invited the community to explore, discover, and quite literally, Play Their Way.
